Planet formation
Our planets formed form what was left over after the sun was created. Slowly dust particles gained more and more mass as they ran into each other which allowed them to gain more gravity which let them gain more mass. So eventually we have the large balls of rock and gas we have today.

This is Mercury. Mercury is the first planet in our solar system.
Mercury is the closest to the sun but surprisingly is not the hottest planet. and experiences the greatest temperature difference between night and day. This is Venus. Venus is actually the hottest planet in our solar system due to its thick atmosphere
This is Earth. This is the planet we live on and also the only planet we know of that supports life. Earth is in what some scientists call the Goldilocks zone, the Goldilocks zone is a place where it is neither too hot nor too cold to support life.
This is Mars. Mars is too far from the sun to have water and as such can not support life. Mars does have north and south poles which some scientists suspect is made out of dry ice.
This is Jupiter. Jupiter is the largest planet in our solar system. And has a hurricane that is as large as the Earth.
This is Saturn. Saturn is the second largest planet, and has some of the best rings. Saturn like most planets beyond the asteroid belt is made mostly of gas.
Uranus, like Saturn also has rings . Uranus is the only planet named after a Greek god and not a roman one excluding Earth of course.
This is Neptune. Neptune is very similar to Uranus in that they are both very icy, and that some astronomers have taken to calling the two planets ice giants.
